My husband and I got married at Te Awa winery and proceeded to spend the first two nights of our honeymoon at the lodge. It was so lovely to come back to a warm quiet room after our wedding and it is conveniently close to Te Awa so we didn't have to travel far. We were both very tired the next day after such a busy time leading up to the wedding so were happy to relax in the peaceful surroundings looking out to the vineyard. I didn't think of it at the time but it would also be a great spot to get ready with your bridesmaids the morning of your wedding. The breakfast was so delicious with lots of variety on both days. It was the perfect start to our perfect honeymoon!

My husband and I have stayed at the lodge a number of times over the last 2 years, with each visit being as wonderful as the one before. We keep going back! and shall continue to do so. The rooms are so comfortable, with luxurious fittings, and very clean. The views out onto the vineyard with the backdrop of the distant mountains are just fabulous. The hosts are very friendly; you are made to feel at home and relaxed. And the breakfasts are always totally delicious. The location is great for exploring the local vineyards, and trying the on site cellar door is a must. Wonderful accommodation, wonderful food, wonderful location, wonderful hosts and wonderful wine...... Simply Wonderful!
My partner and I stayed here the weekend before Easter. Being in town for a wedding, we wanted to treat ourselves to a nice place to stay and I have to say we were very happy with our choice! The room was lovely. Spacious, cozy, and clean. We were very satisfied with the amenities provided and I loved the bathroom with the heat lamp and towel warmer!
But as we were lucky to arrive on a weekend of good weather, we wanted to spend the day exploring the area and spent Saturday enjoying some of the vineyards. The hostess, Sarah, was kind enough to let us place our bags in our room earlier than usual that morning and set off on a bike tour around the local wineries for the afternoon. We did the "On Yer Bike" tours as it was run right from the Cellar Door on the property and had such a nice afternoon biking around the area and enjoying some of the wines. Of course we also had to try to wines on their site, Ash Ridge, and got to chatting with the owner Chris, who was very friendly, and the other gentleman, Phillip, who helped organize the bike tour and was great to talk to as well. He was telling us about all the expansion their boutique winery has been through recently and if this is just the beginning we would love to come back down the line!

To top off our evening when we returned from our bike tour that afternoon, our hostess Sarah had been making some Sauvignon Blanc jam from their own grapes and offered to let us try some--it was delicious!
We have just come back from our tour of the north Island and stayed at several vineyard accommodations (as wine was our principal motivations for travelling to the areas we did). Cardoness is a charming and modern house est int he middle of stunning vineyards and provided peace and tranquility. Sarah was a gracious host and an excellent cook. Unlike the bitter comments of the person below, we booked dinner in advance (as ADVERTISED on the website) and it was second to none. We also had a very nice dinner at Vidals which our host graciously organised for us and did the art deco walk as well as a nice lunch at Milk and Honey in Ahuriri.
Breakfast was fresh and cooked to order and our only complaint was that we didnt have room to taste everything (fresh croissants, fresh baked muffins, pancakes, plus eggs (any way) and excellent local bacon and sausages.
And of course you cant come and not visit the on site cellar door, enjoy a generous platter and sample their excellent wines (the syrah is a must).
Couldnt recommend enough!!!
Thank you so much, a wonderfull stay. Your help in how we spent our days, the wonderful dinner here and the conversation were great

A wonderful place to begin our journey. You are the most generous hosts, it was difficult to leave after our morning tour of the vineyard. We hope to return. Thank you.
